Principal’s Welcome Letter for the 2017-2018 School Year

Dear Our Lady of Victory Families,

As we begin the 2017 – 2018 school year, I want to begin by thanking you all for the sacrifices you make in order for your children to receive a Catholic Education at Our Lady of Victory School.  This school year our enrollment is a 195 total students for the school year which is a decrease from our previous year. Three major factors that influenced our decreased enrollment were that the school no longer accepted 3 year old students, family hardship, and family relocation.  We are hopeful that by the end of September that our enrollment will increase to over 200 students. The decrease in enrollment also impacts our financial health as well and we are working with the parish and archdiocese to ensure that we are still providing a quality education for all of our students. Along with that we hope for increased participation from all of our families in fundraising events this year. We are hoping to host a school-wide  fundraiser this May in order to begin a fund that ensures we will have a full faculty the following school year.

Fortunately, many of our faculty and staff have returned for the following school year and are eager to continue the growth in our students and our school. We are excited to welcome Ms. Nancy Noble to our community as our 1st grade teacher and helping us with daycare this year is Mrs. Nancy Bravo. Mrs. Martina Romero will be taking over our lunch program and will continue to assist with daycare. We will be beginning the year with our students being assessed by STAR in order to better understand where are students are academically.  Furthermore, this year our teachers will be solidifying their core instructional practices in the classroom. Our faculty and staff are committed to improving their practices collectively in order to ensure academic excellence in the classroom.

Lastly, we hope to continue with several of our after-school groups including sports and other activities. We will give a schedule of activities at Back To School Night on September 7th. Volunteers are needed for the following: Coaching volleyball, coaching flag football, recess coverage and lunch coverage, after school daycare assistance, and classroom assistance.

We hope to continue forward in helping Our Lady of Victory grow into the thriving, vibrant, and irresistible learning community that it has been. Most importantly, we hope to continue to help your children grow in both their Faith and Academics while here at OLV. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us. May God bless you all!

In His Service,

Arturo Jordan-Gonzalez

Principal
