Third Grade

woman_thumbnail_102x127Welcome! My name is Ms. Kelsie Corriston, but you may call me Ms. C. I teach third grade am thrilled to begin my first year at Our Lady of Victory! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, with minors in Education, Schooling, and Society and Italian Studies. I am currently working towards my Masters in Education degree at the University of Notre Dame through the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Teaching Fellows program. I am committed to Catholic education and to teaching students to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God.

I was born and raised in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. I have a twin sister, who is a journalist, and a younger brother, who is a high schooler. This is my first time living in California, so I am having fun exploring the state. I love playing sports, rooting for Notre Dame football and the NY Giants, reading good books, listening to and telling stories, and being outdoors. I love to travel and hope that this year takes our class on adventures of our own.

Greetings!

Greetings from Mrs. Magallanes!
Our school year is well on its way. Third graders are having fun learning. Please continue to encourage them to give it their best.

As you know, there is homework four nights a week – Monday through Thursday. Math and Reading will be two constant assignments throughout the school year. If your child needs to be absent, please make sure he/she practices multiplication facts, and reads for at least 15 minutes, if at all possible.

We have recently started weekly Study Hall sessions. Every Monday your children are welcome to stay until four o’clock to work on their homework.
Teachers from third, fourth, and fifth grade will be rotating to stay and offer academic support during that time to students of all three grades. Please note that children would need to be picked up by 4:00PM, otherwise they will be automatically checked into our school Daycare program.

Uniform reminders:
Tuesdays: P.E.
Friday: Formal uniform for school Mass

“May grace and peace be yours in abundance through knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:2

Have a super summer and start to next school year!

Book Party

Last Friday, we celebrated our $1,000 of new books with a Book Party. Students enjoyed building reading forts, reading to first grade buddies, making Dirt and Bookworms treats, reading to self, illustrating book covers, and reading with family and friends. A HUGE thank you to all of the family members who attended our party. It meant the world to your children. Please continue reading together at home. All of our new Riordan Foundation books may be borrowed and taken home to read.
